Has your holiday been cancelled this year? In desperate need of an escape? Looking for some sun?

This could be just what you’re looking for.

Like most tourist destinations amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the ever-popular Mexican city of Cancun has seen a decline in the number of visitors, so it’s pulled out all the stops.

In a bid to encourage more tourists to holiday in the Mexican Caribbean, the Hotel Associations of Cancun, Puerto Morelos & Isla Mujeres, the Riviera Maya, Cozumel, and the Grand Costa Maya have teamed up to to give away an incredible deal to some very lucky people.

They are offering an all-inclusive holiday for two people at popular resorts across the Mexican Caribbean every year for the next 20 years.

How brilliant is this?

Winners will get a certificate for a stay every year which is valid for a 20-year period. The stay can be at any four or five-star hotels in the different Mexican Caribbean tourist destinations, and the certificate – which offers an all-inclusive plan – is valid for a five or six-night stay and can only be used for two guests.

Fancy entering then?

The rules seem pretty simple because, according to the Come2MexcianCaribbean website, all you’ll need to do is first follow @Come2MexicanCaribbean on Instagram or TikTok, then upload your own photo or video related to the Mexican Caribbean either platform, tag the above handle and use the hashtag #Come2MexicanCaribbean.

Now, it does however seem to be a popularity contest though.

Again, according to the website, the more likes and shares you get, the more likely you are to win. You can post on both Instagram and TikTok to boost your chances and enter multiple posts, but do note, you can only be selected once as a winner.

The competition opened at the end of July and will stay open until 9th November 2020. You have to be aged 18 or over to enter, and the winner will be announced on 27th November 2020.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office currently advises British nationals against all but essential international travel – except to countries and territories which are exempt – and unfortunately, Mexico is not part of the countries and territories that have been assessed as no longer presenting an unacceptably high risk to British people travelling abroad at present, so this likely means it’s best to rule out a trip there this year.

The good thing is though that if you do chose enter, you can always use your certificate for next year, or any of the following years for the next two decades.
