New Hillsborough disaster drama Anne will air on ITV this weekend

A new drama series about the Hillsborough disaster will air on ITV this weekend.

Anne will tell the story of a bereaved mother and her tireless campaigning for justice for the 97 people who were killed.

Mancunian actress Maxine Peake will star as Anne Williams, nicknamed Liverpool’s ‘Iron Lady’, in the four-part series.

The series has been written by Kevin Sampson, who was at the Hillsborough Stadium on the day of the disaster.

The drama will relive the deadly incident, in which a crowd crush at the football stadium killed 97 Liverpool fans, through the life of Anne.

Her 15-year-old son Kevin was one of those who was unlawfully killed at Hillsborough on April 15, 1989.

In the 24 years that followed, and up until her death in 2013, Anne never stopped searching for the truth about what happened on that dreadful day.

Matthew McNulty will star as Andy Burnham in the series.

Anne will be shown on ITV across four nights from January 2 to January 5, followed by a documentary on January 6.

Review | ‘This is a night to remember, Manchester’ – Jason Derulo’s Co-op Live debut

Who’s ready for another throwback night? Because this was absolutely a night already full of nostalgia and one to remember.

American singer-songwriter Jason Derulo hit Co-op Live last night as part of his ‘The Last Dance World Tour’, famous for hit songs like ‘Whatcha Say’, ‘Talk Dirty’, and ‘Savage Love’ – we all remember the Covid TikTok dance, don’t we? – as well as many more.

With over 250 million singles sold and tens of billions of streams, you best believe his one night in Manchester was sold out.

Running through the big hits and everything in between, he and his dancers made it a proper party atmosphere on this fine Saturday evening.

He did his throwback songs and more; from the moment he said, “We’re throwing it back to the beginning, back to 2009″, we knew his first debut single, ‘Whatcha Say’, was about to grace our ears, and that it did.

He also brought back absolute classics like ‘Ridin’ Solo’ (I definitely lost my voice during this one) In My Head and It Girl.

The Last Dance run of shows has seen him visit places like Leeds, London, Glasgow and Birmingham, finishing his UK leg right here in Manchester, before he carries on to Europe, but we’re confident our date had the best crowd so far.

And just when you think this couldn’t get any better, he brought his little boy on stage to say hi to everyone, too – shattered everyone’s hearts.

He has that many hit songs, it wasn’t possible to get through them all, so his DJ halfway through did a mash-up of songs he’s also written and featured in, including ‘I Gotta Feeling’ by Black Eyed Peas, ‘Secret Love Song’ with Little Mix and ‘Replay’ by Iyaz.

We knew his voice was amazing – but can we have a moment for this man’s dance moves, keeping everyone on their feet at Co-op Live tonight, and his dancers made everyone want to start dance lessons tonight too, an absolutely incredible performance by all.

Jason Derulo told the audience, “This is a night to remember Manchester’, and that it absolutely was.

Molly-Mae Hague announces baby number two with Tommy Fury

Molly-Mae Hague has announced that she’s pregnant with baby number two with long-term boyfriend Tommy Fury.

The couple, who met on Love Island in 2019, already share a daughter named Bambi.

And in a sweet video shared on Instagram this evening, the influencer confirmed she’s expecting her second baby.

In the video, Bambi is seen wearing a jumper embroidered with the words ‘Big Sister’.

The couple, both 26, wrote: “Soon to be four”.

Molly-Mae Hague and boxer Tommy Fury met on Love Island several years ago and have gone on to be one of the most famous couples in the UK.

Both have had their own documentary series and formidable brand deals.

Despite a brief split in 2024 after their engagement was announced, the couple reunited and seem stronger than ever.

And now they’re preparing to welcome a new baby into the Fury family.

Stars including Maura Higgins, Rochelle Humes and Paris Fury (Tommy’s sister-in-law) have all rushed to publicly congratulate the pair.

Paris Fury wrote: “Congratulations and you look amazing super mom and running her own empire.”

Zoe Rae, Molly-Mae’s sister, commented: “Can’t wait to see her be a big sis.”
