"In the face of trauma their love for our beloved city and our Liverpool people was immediate and immense."

A restaurant in Liverpool has issued a heartfelt thank you to its staff after the popular Indian spot was used as an emergency medical centre.
After a car crashed into crowds at the Liverpool FC title parade, injuring more than 50 people, Mowgli found itself being used as a medical event centre for the injured.
Mowgli, which has a beautiful restaurant in Manchester and another at Cheshire Oaks, as well as several sites in its native Liverpool, was at the centre of the dramatic scenes in Liverpool yesterday on Water Street.
The restaurant’s founder Nisha Katona has now shared a heartfelt statement about the horrific scenes in the city yesterday and the restaurant staff’s response.
She praised their ‘calm maturity, resourcefulness, and quick kindness’.
Nisha added: “In the face of trauma their love for our beloved city and our Liverpool people was immediate and immense.”
A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving offences and driving while unfit through drugs.
It’s been reported that he followed an ambulance onto Water Street, which was closed to traffic while thousands of people celebrated Liverpool FC’s victory parade.
Mowgli, which is also on Water Street in Liverpool city centre, said in a statement: “Thank you to my wonderful teams in Water Street who were incredible in their calm maturity, resourcefulness and quick kindness when Mowgli became a medical event centre yesterday.
“In the face of trauma their love for our beloved city and our Liverpool people was immediate and immense. We will let you know when we re open. God bless.”
One person commented: “You looked after my partner and I after we’d been hit. Kept us calm and safe whilst we were in bad pain. We’re so grateful, thank you.”
Another wrote: “As soon as I heard a restaurant had opened its doors and staff where helping injured fans, I knew it was Mowgli. Many thanks to your wonderful team!!”
Someone else said: “Thank you to all of the staff who helped people yesterday. Above and beyond by far but also Scousers, aren’t we. As is the lovely Nisha, it’s what we do. You all should be so proud of yourselves x x.”
