Manchester City Council has published a list of road closures around the region ahead of this year’s Great Manchester Run.

Tens of thousands of hardy souls will take to the streets to take on the annual 10km and half marathon events.

As one of the country’s flattest and friendliest courses, it’s always a huge race for runners trying to reach that elusive PB.

This year’s Great Manchester Run will take place on Sunday 26 May, but road closures will be in place in some key areas from Saturday 25 May.

The 10k weaves around the city centre and Salford, while the half marathon heads out east before following the same loop of landmarks.

And of course, on the same day, Manchester City will be doing their celebratory parade down Deansgate in a huge open-top bus, which means some road closures will linger even longer than usual.

Tram will be the best way to get from A to B, whether you’re running or just cheering on from the sidelines – TfGM has advice for Great Manchester Run spectators here.
