Plans to build park and 270 new homes in Collyhurst – with consultation underway
Local residents, businesses and groups are invited to give their feedback on plans for the area - which would see new houses created across two neighbourhoods - Collyhurst Village and South Collyhurst.
A consultation into a proposed development in Collyhurst – which could see the creation of 270 new homes and a park – is underway.
Local residents, businesses and groups are being invited to give their feedback on plans for the area – which would see houses created across two neighbourhoods – Collyhurst Village and South Collyhurst.
This phase of development will also include 130 council homes for social rent.
According to Manchester City Council, previous consultations have seen local people express a preference for a mix of new homes, including accessible housing, family-friendly and age-friendly designs, alongside attractive residential streets, with a focus on safety and security.
The first phase apparently involves part of a bigger plan to create as many as 15,000 new homes along the Irk Valley.
The building work in Collyhurst could also result in the demolition of 28 existing homes which, if approved, would see residents ‘supported’ to move into new places.
The council has assured the community that ‘no existing homes will be demolished in Collyhurst until the new replacement homes have been completed.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, local people are being invited to view the plans online and view a virtual exhibition.
Final proposals will be presented to the local community later this year ahead of planning submission.
The consultation will close on Friday 16 October.
