Police appeal for witnesses after man and dog die in horror crash

A man in his 60s, and his dog, have tragically been killed in a crash in Wythenshawe.

The pedestrian and his pet were struck shortly before 5pm on Sunday 9 March by a black car.

The car had been travelling south on Greenwood Road towards the junction of Hollyhedge Road, when it collided with another vehicle on the other side of the road.

The black car then hit a pedestrian, causing fatal injuries to him and his dog – they both died at the scene of the crash, despite the best efforts of emergency services.

A woman in her 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and has been released on bail.

Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for witnesses to help with enquiries.

The crash which killed the man and his dog occurred around 5pm on Sunday 9 March 2025, at the junction of Hollyhedge Road and Greenwood Road in Wythenshawe.
