One of the internet’s most beloved bakeries, Get Baked, is opening its doors in Manchester.
The bakery is perhaps best-known for its most viral cake, a 24-layer chocolate overload inspired by the Bruce Bogtrotter cake from classic film Matilda.
Slices of the ‘Bruce’ cake, which are sold online, are so popular that weekly drops sell out almost instantly.
Get Baked also hit headlines several years ago with the bizarre ‘sprinklegate‘ row, where they were ordered to stop using their colourful cake sprinkles by Trading Standards.
As well as the world-famous Bruce cake, Get Baked also creates fudgy brownies, cookies, puddings, pies and cake jars, all very indulgent.

And now the Leeds-based bakery has announced plans to open its first site here in Manchester.
Get Baked had already teased the news on social media, writing in their typically cheeky manner: “Hi Manchester. Guess who’s opening inside of you. That’s right…”

They later shared a photo of what will become the new location – and it’s right in the heart of town.

It looks like Get Baked is set to open on Peter Street in Manchester city centre, taking over that weird pointy bit of the glass building that’s also home to Impossible.
It will put them right in between the city’s busiest nightlife venues (including Albert’s Schloss, Albert Hall, NQ64 and Revs de Cuba) and the popular venues over at the Great Northern Warehouse.

Naturally, Get Baked’s quarter-of-a-million followers have welcomed the news of their Manchester opening with delight.
Onda Pasta Bar – another viral business which just yesterday confirmed it was opening its first proper restaurant here – wrote: “What a spot that is! See you soon.”
Another person joked: “On my walk into work?! Well, it’s been nice NOT having diabetes, but needs must.”
And someone else wrote: “Well, sh*t , this is going to get expensive.”
The exact opening date for Get Baked Manchester hasn’t yet been announced, but we’ll be keeping an eye on all things Bruce.

It’s one of those flagstone-floored, beamed-ceilinged, mismatched-furniture type pubs that welcomes everyone in every state, whether you’re caked in mud from a hike or popping in on a coach tour.
Another of the pub’s specialties is the Derbyshire Breakfast, a hearty plate of sausage, smoked bacon, black pudding, free range egg, grilled tomatoes, field mushrooms, baked beans and fried bread.
The pub also offers takeaway breakfast butties, so you can use it for both a pre-hike stop and a post-hike pint.
Given it’s just minutes from the ever-popular Mam Tor hike, this is one pub you’ll definitely want to add to your next Peak District day out itinerary.

Welcome to Hope Valley Ice Cream, a family-run gem where things are kept refreshingly simple: happy cows, proper farming, and seriously good ice cream.
Set in the heart of the Peak District countryside, this place is about as wholesome as it gets.
The ice cream is made on-site in the farmhouse, literally just metres from where the dairy herd are out grazing.
You can watch the animals, wander around the farm, and then tuck into a scoop or three perched on a milk pail stool, or a picnic bench (or even a decorative tractor).
Hope Valley Ice Cream has some amazing seasonal ice creams, like lemon curd, elderflower, and blackberry, alongside all the classics and a rather delicious tiramisu.

The farm itself is run by the Marsden family, who’ve been working this land for generations. It shows in everything – they’ve created a place that feels genuinely welcoming, not just another tourist stop.
Beyond the ice cream, you’ve got plenty of reasons to stick around. There are calves (including the newest tiny arrivals), plus donkeys and pigs to say hello to.
Whether you’re heading out on a hike or just fancy a drive into the Peaks, this is one pitstop that’s absolutely worth it – and honestly, it’s worth the trip on its own.
