Sugo Pasta Kitchen has smashed its target for a Kickstarter campaign to help fund its latest restaurant opening in just eight days.
The hugely popular Italian restaurant, which already has sites in Altrincham and Ancoats, hoped to raise £85,000 towards its newest pasta kitchen in Sale.
The Kickstarter campaign has flown past its initial target in just over a week, with pledges still available until mid-January.
Its owners said that the new restaurant wouldn’t be possible without the ‘unwavering support’ of its customers.
Sugo has raised a whopping £88,000 at the time of writing from more than 1000 backers.
The restaurant’s co-owners, brothers Mike and Alex De Martiis, say they are officially on track to open the new Sugo at Stanley Square next year.
Mike said in a statement: “The only thing certain in hospitality today is that Sale definitely wants a Southern Italian pasta kitchen.”
They also posted on their social media channels: “We can now say with 100% certainty we’re going to open a Southern Italian Pasta Kitchen at Stanley Square in Sale that you can be truly proud of.
“Bottom line, none of this is possible without the unwavering borderline militant support we’ve received from YOU guys not only on this Kickstarter but since 2015 when we opened in Alty.
“The crowdfund will remain live until the deadline of 13/1 so there’s still time for folks to redeem rewards and get their name on our founders wall. Plus with all the mixed messages around hospitality and covid right now every penny counts.
“EVERY single backer will hear from us at the end of campaign with info on reward redemption.
“Love, Honour & Appreciation. Mike & Alex”
