Man who fell from Hulme Arch Bridge left with ‘potentially life-threatening’ injuries

An air ambulance was seen on the scene.

A man who fell from the Hulme Arch Bridge in Manchester city centre has been left with ‘potentially life-threatening and life-changing injuries’.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were scrambled to the scene at around 3.35pm on Thursday 4 May.

The bridge and surrounding roads were temporarily closed, bringing traffic to a standstill on the Princess Road junction of Mancunian Way and Princess Road junction with Greenheys Lane.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers, along with the North West Ambulance Service and Helimed, all attended the scene in Hulme.

The man who fell was taken to hospital.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Inspector Phil Marsh of CoM Central district said: “Enquiries are still ongoing at this time to try and establish the circumstances of this incident, which has left a young man seriously injured.
