‘Roof has gone’ – Chill Factore forced to close after Storm Barra winds damage building

Manchester’s huge ski facility Chill Factore has had to close with immediate effect after it was damaged by Storm Barra.

The massive snow centre, home to the UK’s longest indoor ski slope, has been battered by ‘severe winds’ today.

A tweet from a passer-by shows visible damage to the roof of the Beyond building.

Chill Factore at Trafford Park has confirmed the closure on Twitter this afternoon.

They wrote: “The Beyond building has sustained some damage due to the severe winds.

“As a result we’ve made the difficult decision to close our building and surrounding car parks with immediate effect to protect the health and safety of our guests and team.

“All activities for the remainder of the day have been cancelled and we are in the process of contacting guests with bookings for today to rearrange their activities.

“We are awaiting contractors to come and assess the damage and we will provide more information as soon as possible through our website & social media accounts.”

There are yellow weather warnings in place across the UK today as Storm Barra is set to bring strong winds and heavy rain.

Snow is also forecast for northern parts of England and Scotland.
