Uber is supporting Manchester’s vaccination effort by offering free journeys to the city’s mass vaccination centre.
The ride-hailing app announced this week that passengers will be able to book trips to or from the Etihad Tennis Centre – or any of the other original seven mass vaccination centres – up to a value of £15.
Users simply need to add a promo code when booking their trip to qualify for the discount.
The offer is valid for one £15 trip per person up until February 28.
Uber stated that the company has launched the discount to “help as many people as possible receive a vaccination during this critical time.”
More information on the promo codes for each eligible vaccine centre is available here.
The code for Manchester’s Etihad Tennis & Football centre is: UberUKET.
The COVID-19 vaccine is now being rolled out to groups three and four on the priority list – the over 70s and clinically vulnerable.
Vaccine Deployment Minister Nadhim Zahawi said that the UK is currently vaccinating 140 people per minute on average.
Over half of over 80s and care home residents have already been given their first jabs.
On Monday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock pledged that anyone over 80 who hadn’t already received an inoculation would be invited to get one within four weeks.
The total number of vaccinations in England has now surpassed the 4 million mark.
10 additional mass vaccination centres also opened in England this week – with Zahawi claiming there would be 50 operating all around the country by the end of January.
