Urgent appeal to find two ‘high-risk’ missing girls from West Yorkshire who may be in Manchester

West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester Police have issued a joint appeal to help find two missing girls who could be somewhere in Manchester.

Schoolgirls Katelan Coates, 14, and Olivia Makin, 12, from Todmorden in West Yorkshire were officially reported as missing on Monday, 10 July and as they are known to regularly travel to both Manchester and Liverpool, their parents and the police believe they may be in one of the two.

The teenagers from the Calder Valley town have been designated as “high risk” and Coates has been reported missing twice already this year, once in March and then again in May.

While the girls frequently travel away from home to various parts of the North West via public transport, specifically, authorities are asking Mancunians and Liverpudlians to keep their eyes out for the two girls.

GMP are now helping West Yorkshire authorities in their efforts to locate the pair, with the local police force issuing missing persons appeal for both individuals along with descriptions.

Regarding Olivia Makin, they described her as “a white female with long brown curly hair” last seen “wearing a black school uniform”.

As for Katelan Coates, who is now seen as high-risk after disappearing on multiple occasions, WYP say “she is a white female, medium build, shoulder length brown hair” and was last spotted wearing a “beige top, black furry coat, black leggings and sunglasses.
