Bolton manager Steven Schumacher confirms Will Forrestor is out for the season

Not great timing.

Bolton Wanderers manager Steven Schumacher has revealed that injured first-team star Will Forrestor is set to be out for the rest of the 2024/25 season.

Fans already feared the worst when Will Forrestor came off the pitch in their 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers last weekend, with Shumacher quick to comment that it “doesn’t look good” during his post-match interviews.

But now they have confirmation that the defenders won’t just miss a few weeks ahead of what is already a crucial period of the campaign but will unfortunately not be able to feature in any of Wanderers remaining games this season.

With the playoff scraps looming, it’s a big blow.

Forrestor was forced off with a suspected hamstring pull in just the 17th minute and went to receive instant treatment following the League One match on Saturday, 5 April.

Speaking to local outlet Bolton News this week, Schumacher has now said: “We got the scan results back off from him, and he’s going to be out for the rest of the season, so that’s unfortunate.

“It was quite a heavy grade hamstring strain, so he will be back in pre-season.”

Having started every game bar two since Schumacher arrived back in January, he’s been a key cog in the backline in a steadily improving Bolton side

The 23-year-old hopped on social media to share his disappointment with supporters, promising that alongside his rehab, he’ll be getting right behind his teammates as their playoff prospects are still alive.

It’s clear to see that the supporters are gutted as he is.

League leaders Birmingham look all but nailed on for the third-tier title with a 14-point cushion and a game in hand on those in the chasing pack.

Meanwhile, Bolton are still in with a shout, currently seventh in the table with 66 points after 41 games played and still in touching distance of Reading, Charlton, as well as fellow Greater Manchester promotion hopefuls Stockport County.

What do you reckon, Trotters – think they can do it? Either way, it’ll be hard work without the number 15.
