Yes, you read that right: Phil Foden’s four-year-old son Ronnie, affectionately known to the masses as ‘El Wey’, has gained nearly three million followers in just three days — more than many actual Premier League footballers.

Not bad for what is, essentially, a toddler.

The popular mini-Manc, born just two years after his 17-year-old dad Phil made his full debut for Manchester City‘s first team back in 2017 (god, this is making us feel old), has quickly become a viral sensation, especially this past season with the Blues winning literally everything.

I mean, he is cute, to be fair.

Why is Foden’s son called ‘El Wey’?

Countless videos of the cheeky little lad at the FA Cup and Champions League finals have been circulating online and it isn’t just City fans that have been loving watching his happy little face, he’s become an internet phenomenon in the likes of Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

In fact, it was in South America that gave little Ronnie the nickname, ‘El Wey’ which simply translates to ‘The Dude’ in Spanish, with literally millions watching back clips of him dancing after the treble win, celebrating with his best mate Erling Haaland and just generally being a bit of a legend.

There are even pictures of him hanging above university whiteboards in Mexico. As you do.

Foden Junior’s account is obviously run by parents Phil and his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke, who seem more than happy to indulge in the obsession surrounding their online sensation of a son.

This lad has barely even kicked a ball yet and he’s already everyone’s favourite little local lad, imagine how big a name he’s going to be once he inevitably figures out he’s really good at football.
