Girls Aloud will stage a reunion in honour of Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle confirms
Girls Aloud will come together for a one-off reunion gig in memory of Sarah Harding, her bandmate and friend Nadine Coyle has confirmed.
The singer told OK Magazine that they hope to honour Sarah through a fund-raising gig.
Sarah, who grew up in Stockport, died on 5 September, 2021 after a battle with breast cancer. She was just 39 years old.
She had spent more than a decade as a member of Girls Aloud alongside Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Nadine, after the group formed on Popstars: The Rivals.
The group formally disbanded in 2013, but it appears a brief reunion may now be back on the cards.
Nadine told OK: “We’re planning a night for an event to raise money in honour of Sarah. She’s very much in the forefront of our minds.
“We want to raise money for a piece of medical equipment that helps diagnose cancer earlier so people can be treated. We definitely want to do something to help others.”
She added that Sarah’s death ‘still affects us deeply’.
At the time of her death, Sarah’s mother Marie wrote: “It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away.
“Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day.
“She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year.
“It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved. I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead.”
