GMP has seized a ‘large haul’ of cannabis during a raid at a restaurant in Urmston

Officers said they believe the the cannabis haul was "harvested" at the premises.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that a large amount of cannabis has been seized during the raid of a restaurant in Urmston.

After being alerted to reports of “suspicious activity”, officers from GMP’s Trafford West policing team stormed the premises of the Flixton Road-based eatery on Tuesday afternoon to discover what has been named a “large haul of cannabis”.

The officers said they believe the the cannabis haul was “harvested” at the premises.

Taking to social media yesterday to share a picture of the haul and reveal details of the raid, GMP Trafford North said in a Facebook post: “Earlier this afternoon, the Trafford West Area team at Urmston were notified about suspicious activity taking place at a restaurant on Flixton Road, Urmston.

“Upon arrival, a large haul of cannabis was recovered after being harvested inside the building.”

GMP Trafford North confirmed that an investigation is now underway, and also joked that they would be leaving a one star review for the restaurant on TripAdvisor.

The post has since gone on to amass hundreds of interactions and comments from members of the local community praising the officers for their hard work, as well as others joining GMP in poking a bit of fun at the situation.

The identity of the restaurant has not yet been revealed.
