Member of Parliament for Bolton South East Yasmin Qureshi has been discharged from hospital after spending almost a week in care.
The MP contracted COVID-19 earlier in October and became increasingly unwell during her isolation period, forcing her to check in to Royal Bolton Hospital last weekend.
Two days after being admitted to the healthcare facility, Qureshi confirmed that she was being treated for pneumonia.
The Bolton MP shared the good news that her condition has improved enough for her to leave hospital on Friday (23 October) – and has paid tribute to the “wonderful staff” who took care of her.
The MP tweeted on Friday morning: “A quick message to say that, thanks to the excellent care I received over the last week, I have now been discharged from hospital.
“I am so grateful to the wonderful staff who looked after me and proud of the NHS.
She added: “I am grateful for to my staff for keeping the office running in my absence and to the House of Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle for allowing me to still be able to vote this week.
“I am completely overwhelmed by the kind messages I have received from everyone, they meant so much.”
