Codebreaking, spies and escape rooms in special late-night event at Science & Industry museum
The event - inspired by the Science & Industry Museum's 'Top Secret' exhibition - gives visitors the chance to get stuck into some codebreaking.
A late-night event at Science & Industry Museum will throw visitors into the world of codebreaking, spies, and GCHQ next month.
Inspired by the museum’s smash-hit, spy-themed Top Secret exhibition – which tells the story of Alan Turing, Bletchley Park, and modern cybersecurity – the upcoming adult-only event will feature a whole night of games and activities led by the country’s leading intelligence experts.
Participants can put their codebreaking skills to the test in an escape room, whilst learning all about Alan Turning from his nephew, Sir Dermot Turing – who will be hosting a talk with Dr Natasha Ellison.
Visitors will also find out how their data is exposed through social media and mobile phones – gaining valuable insight into how to keep their personal info safe.
There’s even an opportunity to pit yourself against cybercriminals in a competitive game developed by Raytheon UK.
The event takes place on Wednesday 4 August – 7pm until 10pm.
Tickets are completely free and can be booked online, along with passes to the main exhibition Top Secret: From ciphers to cyber security.
Top Secret has proven a huge success so far – coinciding with the same year that the Alan Turning £50 banknote enters circulation.
A range of food and drink is also available at the event at a discounted price when you buy in advance.
