A man has died in Whitefield after being hit by an HGV
A tragic update this morning.
A man in his 50s has tragically died after being hit by an HGV at a busy junction in Whitefield.
The fatal collision occurred at the junction of Bury New Road and Radcliffe New Road in the Bury neighbourhood at around 1.30pm on Wednesday 15 March.
A large section of the busy road was cordoned off yesterday following the incident.
Sadly, the 55-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
This morning, GMP Bury North shared an update on Facebook, which said: “GMP collision investigators are appealing for information after a pedestrian died in Bury.
“The 55-year-old man was in collision with an HGV on Radcliffe New Road, Whitefield, at around 1.30pm on Wednesday 15 March 2023.
“Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver remained at the scene to help police.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward while enquiries are ongoing.
GMP said yesterday: “Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or believes they have any CCTV or dashcam footage, should contact GMP’s Serious Collison Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting log 1594 15 March 2023.
