A woman has died after being hit by a train at Gatley
A woman has died after she was hit by a train at a Greater Manchester railway station.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
Emergency services were scrambled to Gatley station in Stockport at around 8.50am on Sunday.
Train services between Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly were disrupted while emergency services were on the scene.
In a statement released this morning, a British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Gatley railway station at 8.50am on 14 May to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be a prepared for the coroner.”
The train lines reopened at around 10.38am on 14 May with delays.
