Peter Kay has been announced as the opening act at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester.

The Bolton-born comedy icon has been confirmed as the huge venue’s very first performer, kick-starting a new chapter for Manchester’s cultural scene.

Peter Kay will be performing there in April as part of his mammoth ‘Better Late Than Never’ tour, which has seen him sell out shows at the AO Arena all the way into autumn 2025.

Speculation has been rife as to who was going to open the huge venue next to the Etihad Stadium, with many assuming Harry Styles – an investor in the venue – would be the one to take to the stage first.

But it will be the much-loved local icon who gets the honour of opening the Co-op Live with his record-breaking tour.

“He embodies what this city is about, and to have him headlining Co-op Live is tremendously exciting.

“We’re creating an arena that is truly part of the community around it, and having Peter as our opening act is a perfect reminder of that.”
