McVitie’s has just launched new Gold Bar-inspired digestive biscuits, and fans already seem to be obsessed.
Merely days after landing in UK supermarkets, shoppers are calling them “an absolute game-changer”.
You may remember that just a couple of weeks back now, the popular confectionary company grabbed headlines for quietly dropping a new cocoa-flavoured variation on the humble Rich Tea biscuit in Tesco stores nationwide, and this wasn’t long after it also launched new cola bottle-flavoured Jaffa Cakes in UK Asda stores too – which was one of the first non-fruity flavoured ventures for the beloved sweet treat.
And now, it looks McVitie’s is at it again, as it’s just taken two of its classic and massively-loved products and combined them into one for the first time ever.
That’s right, we’re talking Gold Bar meets digestive biscuit.
There’s no denying that gold chocolate has had a bit of a resurgence as of late, but we all know that the Gold Bar is one of the OGs.
Described simply as being the classic Digestive biscuit topped with golden caramel from a Gold Bar, this stunning new collaboration biscuit has apparently been created to build on the success of the McVitie’s Gold Billions Wafer – which launched last year, and went down an absolute treat.

McVitie’s parent company, Pladis, says it wanted to take the popularity of gold confectionary and “bring it to the nation’s number one biscuit”.
The company says the “signs of success” for McVitie’s Gold Digestives are “strong”.

“We’ve got a great track record when it comes to innovation for both McVitie’s Gold and McVitie’s Digestives, and we have an established passionate fanbase who have been petitioning for this launch,” explained James King, who is the Marketing Director for McVitie’s at Pladis UK&I.

Since launching nationwide, foodie fans have been rushing to stores and taking to social media in droves to share their take on the new biscuit treat.
One fan has simply called them “an absolute game-changer”.
“They taste banging, absolutely delish,” another fan wrote on Instagram, while a third commented: “Seeking these out ASAP”, a fourth added: “They’re an absolute hit, to be fair”, and a fifth described them as “so good” and “gorgeous”.
McVitie’s Gold Digestives have now landed on Sainsbury’s supermarket shelves nationwide, and will set you back just £1.99 per pack.
They’re also expected to be rolled-out at other retailers soon too, so keep your eyes peeled.

Classic FM to play calming music for anxious pets during this year’s fireworks
Emily Sergeant
Classic FM has announced that it will be back playing calming music for anxious pets during this year’s fireworks season.
Bonfire Night may be loved by us humans for the spectacular firework displays and all the festive-themed activities that come along with it… but sadly, the November holiday isn’t quite so fun for our four-legged friends.
Loud bangs, flashing lights, and unpleasant strong smell of spent explosives are just some of the reasons why fireworks are frightening to pets.
Not only that, but with multiple bangs occurring from numerous displays across this time of year, pets are rarely able to pinpoint when and where the booming explosions are coming from, therefore creating even more anxiety around this time of year.

Which is why, for the eighth year running now, Classic FM is once again teaming up with the RSPCA for two Pet Classics programmes packed with ‘the most soothing and comforting classical music’.
The music has been handpicked to help calm and settle any anxious pets.
A survey by the RSPCA revealed that almost two-thirds (63%) of animal owners reported their pet was distressed during fireworks season, and that playing relaxing music was the most common way (36%) to help calm or prepare their animal.
The first Pet Classics programme this year will be on Bonfire Night (Wednesday 5 November) from 5pm to 9pm, followed by a second programme on Saturday 8 November, also from 5pm to 9pm, to coincide with the busiest night for public and private fireworks displays.
A special New Year’s Eve Pet Classics programme is also planned this year, with more information set to be announced closer to the time.
Classic FM’s Pet Classics with Charlotte Hawkins and Dan Walker will be broadcast on Wednesday 5 and Saturday 8 November from 5pm to 9pm, and you can listen on Classic FM or Global Player available across the UK.

BBC is casting for next series of The Traitors and wants Mancs who are ‘good at lying’ to apply
Emily Sergeant
The BBC is currently casting for the next series of The Traitors, and is looking for some deceptive Mancs to take part.
The Traitors is pretty much a cultural phenomenon at this point, let’s be honest.
Producers describe it as a ‘game of trust and treachery’, and there’s always plenty of twists, turns, shocks, and surprises along the way – but do you reckon you’ve got what it takes to play? If so, the BBC is currently casting for the next series of the popular show, and is calling on people in Greater Manchester and across the UK to apply.
Applications are currently open to ‘fun, smart, and strategic players’ who are over 18 years of age and have the right to legally reside in the UK.
The first series of the smash-hit BBC reality competition show proved pretty popular when it premiered back in 2022, but the second series took things to a whole new level, and truly seemed to capture the attentions of the nation like no other – with millions of viewers tuning in to watch the three episodes each week.
Currently, you may be one of the millions watching The Celebrity Traitors, which airs each week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
But in case you haven’t seen it, The Traitors is, put simply, a competition series that’s built on strategy, suspicion, and deception, where a team of players are tasked with competing in a series of missions – with the more missions they complete successfully, the bigger the prize pot gets.
However, hidden among the players are the ‘Traitors’, who meet in secret and decide who to eliminate from their fellow players known as the ‘Faithfuls’.
The aim for the ‘Traitors’ is to stay undetected until the end, while the aim for the ‘Faithfuls’ is to banish all of the Traitors before the game ends.
Up for it? You have until 31 May 2026 to get your applications in online here.
