You can pay for your pint with tins of food at Ancoats bar The Jane Eyre this December, in a touching move to help those in need.

The popular neighbourhood bar and restaurant wants to help those who are most in need this winter – with a little help from their huge customer base.

Mancs will be able to receive a free pint of beer if they bring in three much-needed items to be donated to Manchester Food Bank.

Urgently needed include tinned fish, UHT milk, coffee, shower gel, soap, tinned fruit, and tinned vegetables (all items must be unopened and they can’t take toiletries).

The Jane Eyre wants to make sure no one in our city goes hungry this December.

All you need to do is take three items into the bar on Cutting Room Square, reward yourself with a free pint, and leave the bar to deliver your donation to the food bank.

The items will be made into food parcels that will make up three days’ worth of balanced and nutritious food for those in crisis.

The Jane Eyre said: “Because we’re all about doing good turns this December, we’re giving you free pints. Yes that’s right FREE pints, when you bring us 3 items for @mcrfoodbank.

“Nobody should go hungry this Christmas so we’re collecting donations of anything on the list and we will give you a little festive cheer in return for the whole month of December.

“MCR food bank do great work throughout the city so we’re really proud to be supporting them and hope you’ll be on board with helping us do so, with a little encouragement.”

The free pint deal will run all throughout December.

The Jane Eyre’s Ancoats bar is also running a social media advent calendar, where you can win cocktails, vouchers and small plates simply by tagging a mate who needs a bit of festive cheer.
