There are plenty of spots to grab a kebab in the centre of Manchester these days – from a greasy midnight doner on Oldham Street to sitting down for a gourmet feast down a quaint back alley of the Northern Quarter.
They are a biblical part of any night out, or sometimes the sole reason to leave your gaff in the first place – and with a significant food revolution currently sweeping Mancunia, the upward trajectory of both competition and standards is at an all time high.
BAB is embracing this revolution head on and its kebab offerings are serious. Here's why...
BAB, located in an unassuming puddle-ridden alleyway in the centre of town, is all about vibrant flavours, locally-sourced ingredients and homemade marinades and sauces. This really shows.
Their team of creative chefs make their fresh flatbreads from scratch in an open theatre-style kitchen and cook all of their breads on a robata grill, giving each kebab the sensational charcoal flavour it deserves.
But opening up their menu is when it gets real – from their Flat Iron Steak kebab that is smothered in whipped blue cheese and truffle, to their classic Lamb Adana with sprinklings of feta and pistachio labneh, their offerings really do stand out from the crowd.
I could go on all day about their menu, but in doing so I'd be taking away the joy of discovering it for yourself – so check it out here in all of its glory.
It's also worth noting that BAB offers a selection of 'non-babs' and meze dishes – so those who are still clutching onto food-related New Year's resolutions can safely enter the premises without being disappointed by their alternative options.
Food aside, just like its sister venue and Northern Quarter institution Pen and Pencil, customers have the ability to take large party bookings and/or hire their chefs for private events – and we highly recommend you do so. Check out their brochure for platter and drinks packages, cocktail school options and loads more.
There is a lot to admire about BAB, and their "kebabs worth sitting down for" motto instantly rings true once you walk through the doors of their cosy home – nestled away in an authentic crevice of Manchester's Northern Quarter.
The smart thing to do is check them out as soon as possible, and with their to-die-for Flat Iron Steak kebab still on the menu for another two weeks, there's no time like the present.
