15-minute supermarket delivery service Weezy launches in Manchester

Weezy has rolled out its rapid drop-off service to the North-West.

The UK’s leading on-demand 15-minute supermarket has officially launched in Manchester. 

Weezy – the app designed to let you shop for the best local items and receive them within quarter-of-an-hour – is all set to go in the North-West; having struck partnerships with a number of beloved Manc brands. 

Following a busy year, the delivery company has brought its rapid service to the Rainy City – building a team that’s ready to drop top-notch fruit & veg, meat & delis, breads and booze to doorsteps and parks right across Manchester. 

Launched in July 2020, Weezy initially found huge success in London, Bristol and Brighton – with Manchester representing the brand’s first foray into the top half of England.

Weezy’s mission is to give customers “what they want, when they want it” – promising a wide array of locally-made items delivered in a fast timeframe with “no compromises”. 

All Weezy drivers courier products via bicycles and electric bikes – fitting in with the brand’s green ethos.

The delivery service is also running a promotion this weekend (April 16 – 18) involving two more local brands: Marble Brewery and Steep Soda. 

The exclusive ‘two-for-one’ offer on beer and soda is available for one weekend only – with the first 200 orders in Manchester receiving a free bottle of Bottega Gold Prosecco.

Fast-rising Manc rockers ROLLA announce biggest-ever headline show

Manchester band ROLLA have announced their biggest-ever headline gig right here in their hometown and it’s set to be a barnstormer.

The local rock and roll outfit are on the up not only amongst the Manc music scene but Britain at large, notching huge nods from the likes of Rolling Stone as well lots of love from us here at Audio North, and now the in-your-face five-piece are set for a landmark show.

Having crossed a number of city centre venues already, ROLLA have now revealed they will be playing none other than New Century Hall for the first time in their career.

Still only a few short years into their journey to stardom (and yes, we do believe they’re going to be that big), this latest date is a huge milestone for the Mancs.

It was only last month that the ferocious indie rockers put their ever-growing fan base to good use by throwing a sold-out charity gig at Salford Lads’ and Girls’ Club in a successful campaign to save it from closure, and the scenes from the show were unbelievable.

Speaking on what was a momentous night for the band and Greater Manchester as a whole, ROLLA hope it will go down as something “current and future members of the club and our fans can always look back on it as a special moment in time.”

They also detailed how the atmosphere at the gig was so electric that they used a lot of the footage to create the music video for the new single, ‘It Ain’t Easy’, labelling it “the perfect nod to the massive achievement of helping towards keeping the clubs’ doors open.”

And they really did put their money where their mouth was, raising a whopping £8,000 through ticket and merch sales on the night – a huge 24-hour contribution towards the overall £250k target which was finally reached with just a few days to spare last week.

As far as memorable Manchester gigs, this is just the start for ROLLA.

Going to discuss the landmark headline show, the band added: “This is more than just a gig—it’s a defining moment for the band and our fans – a coming together of everything we’ve built so far and we mean to make it special. It’s gonna go off.

“New Century Hall is a proper Manchester institution. It’s been a part of the city’s music scene for decades, and after its recent revival, it’s sounding and looking better than ever. We can’t wait to fill it out with our sound.”

If you’ve not come across their sound before, there are some very noticeable Oasis influences – not just because of some very familiar-looking haircuts and use of sunglasses in their photoshoots either – but, put simply, they deliver some of the punchiest rock riffs around right now.

Music outlet Gigwise has hailed them as “one of the most energetic and full displays of indie rock ‘n’ roll on offer today” and we tend to agree, having also named them on our Manc Bands of the Month just this past October.

With their four-track debut EP set to release on 7 March, two tracks from which we’ve already heard and immediately added to our playlists, they’ll be bringing their tunes and hopefully more new music to the much-loved city centre venue on 3 May 2025.

We have every faith that they will set out the 1,300-capacity New Century Hall thanks to their already die-hard cult following alone, so you best be quick if you want to be there.

There are mini cruises to Amsterdam and Rotterdam running year-round, with tickets from just £65 a head. 

These bargain mini breaks give you a chance to experience a holiday on the high seas and a brilliant city break in one. 

And the best part is that you can have a two-night adventure using only one day of annual leave. 

We went along on a P&O Ferries mini cruise to see what it’s all about. 

Your holiday begins just outside Hull, swiftly boarding your ferry by 7pm (a MUCH quicker process than boarding a plane). 

Each passenger is greeted by P&O staff who’ll show you to your cabin.

There are various sizes of cabin available – ours were the Premier Cabins, with a modern interior, two single beds and an en suite bathroom. 

Although the P&O ferry that runs to the Netherlands is a little smaller than the huge passenger vessels sailing around the Caribbean, there’s still a surprising amount of entertainment on board, from interactive quizzes to a casino to live acoustic musicians in the sky lounge to a full show in the showlounge. 

There are also a few restaurants and bars, including a Costa, an Irish pub and a decent cocktail bar, alongside the main buffet restaurant. 

Once you’ve tired yourself out on board and hit the hay, you’ll be ready to wake up in the land of tulips and canals and bicycles.

The ferry docks in Rotterdam, where you can spend the day, or there are coaches ready to whisk you off to Amsterdam. 

It’s surprising how much you can pack into a day in this vibrant city – start with a wander down some of the canals, grab a portion of Dutch fries loaded with parmesan and sauces, visit one of Amsterdam’s many museums, spend an hour on a canal boat tour seeing the city from the waterways, and grab a cocktail before embarking on your return journey. 

The coach drops you within walking distance of the city centre and all of the must-visit attractions of Amsterdam, whether you’re after stroopwaffels or coffee shops or a visit to Anne Frank’s house.

After another night on the ferry, and a whole new buffet, you’ll dock back on home turf first thing in the morning, and can comfortably be back at your desk before the work day even begins.
