The performers for the 2024 MTV EMAs have been announced today, with some very famous faces making an appearance.
This year sees Manchester crowned the home of the prestigious award ceremony for the first time ever, and what better way to celebrate than hosting in the UK’s newest live entertainment venue Co-op Live
Tooting-born Rachel Keen, more famously known as Raye, is flying the flag for the UK on the MTV EMAs stage as she will be the only British act performing this year so far.
The musical talent is no stranger to award shows as this year has been very successful for her following a sweep at this year’s BRITs such as ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘British Artist of the Year’.
Earlier this month, the entertainment brand announced the full awards list and nominations including household names like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Ariana Grande.

Raye will be sharing the stage with a handful of acts like Shawn Mendes and Teddy Swims with more names to be announced very soon.
Mendes has amassed a large cult following for his guitar-heavy singles like ‘Stitches’, ‘There’s Nothin’ Holding Me Back’ and the steamy 2019 single ‘Señorita’ with Camila Cabello.

Pop singer and vocal belting God, Teddy Swims has come into the spotlight recently since releasing his songs onto social media with his standout single ‘Lose Control’ – which he also performed with the one and only Kelly Clarkson – gaining lots of traction, especially on TikTok.
There’s also buzz around rising star Benson Boone after his hit ‘Beautiful Things’ followed the same trajectory of Swims becoming an overnight star due to its virality.

Mexican rock band The Warning are also taking to the stage and like many other acts who are set to play, this will be their first time performing at this incredible new music venue.

The performers and nominees won’t be the only recognisable faces attending the event as the presenters helping give out the awards are stars too.
Manchester is set to become a mini Hollywood for one night only as acting royalty Jodie Turner-Smith, known for her role as Anne Boleyn, is just one of the presenters for the award show.
Aaron Taylor Johnson, who has starred in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bullet Train, as well as UK cult classic film, Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging, will also be there on the evening.
Lucien Laviscount and Gavin Rosendale are joining the presenting team too, with more big names set to be announced very soon.

John Cooper Clarke to speak at one of Greater Manchester’s most legendary venues
Danny Jones
Legendary poet and spoken word artist John Cooper Clarke is set to host a special evening at Salford Lads and Girls Club this summer.
The one-off evening with the brilliant ‘Bard of Salford’ and Doctor of Arts marks one of the first and most significant public events at the local institution since it was saved from collapse late last year.
Returning next month, the iconic poet, author, and cultural icon will take centre stage for an intimate in-conversation event with respected BBC broadcaster, Nihal Arthanayake – now based in Greater Manchester – sharing stories from his extraordinary career.
With more than five decades of tales to tell, it’s one you don’t want to miss.
As per an official press release, “This special fundraising event will support Salford Lads Club, helping to maintain its historic building and fund vital projects for young members.”
Cooper Clarke last visited the influential community centre and club, which has helped give stars to so many important figures from around the area, back in 2023 as part of a ceremony to name him an Honorary Freeman by Salford City Council.
The latest homecoming also comes not too long after his record-breaking performance at the Co-op Live arena this past March, performing to the largest-ever audience for a poet in the UK.
Rather fittingly, he will be interviewed by Nihal once again, having already spoken to the 76-year-old for part of his award-winning BBC Headliners podcast series.
He’s also known for his insightful and incisive cross-examinations, meaning he’ll be more than up to the challenge of sitting across theJCC.
In the latter half of the night, Nihal will also speak with Clarke’s long-time friend and manager, Phil Jones, a renowned music promoter for nearly half a century and a long-time JCC collaborator.
As is the case with most of these kinds of intimate conversations evenings, there will be Q&A portion where John will be answering selected questions submitted by the audience. There will also be plenty of opportunities to grab a souvenir, be it John’s latest book or SLCAGC merch.
Laura Slingsby, CEO of Salford Lads Club, said of the event: “We are incredibly excited to welcome John back to his hometown for this unique evening. His connection to Salford is legendary, and this event promises to be a truly special occasion for fans old and new.
“Nihal is the perfect choice to interview John, and we look forward to showing him around our wonderful venue” – us too.
Taking place on Wednesday, 11 June, tickets go live today (Friday, 16 May) at 10am. You can get ready to grab yours HERE.

Chris Brown arrested at luxury Manchester hotel just weeks before major tour
Daisy Jackson
Singer Chris Brown has been arrested at a five-star hotel in Manchester on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
The ‘Forever’ singer, who is set to play four huge shows at the Co-op Live arena next month, was arrested at The Lowry Hotel around 2am today (Thursday, 15 May).
It’s been reported that the arrest is in relation to a bottle attack at a London nightclub two years ago against music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub.
Chris Brown, 36, flew into Manchester on a private jet on Wednesday, 14 May, and was later arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police at his hotel.
In a statement, The Met told The Sun: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
“He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
Abe Diaw has alleged that Brown ‘smashed him over the head with a bottle’ in the attack on him, at around 3am at Tape nightclub.
Diaw has launched a civil claim against Brown for $16 million (£12 million) in damages for injuries and losses suffered as a result of the alleged attack.
Chris Brown has 10 UK tour dates in the pipeline as part of his ‘Breezy Bowl XX tour’, which includes four at the Co-op Live on 15, 16, 24 June, and 3 July 2025.
