Manchester bus drivers surprised with giant ‘thank you’ Christmas tree
Bus drivers and transport workers in Manchester have been celebrated with an enormous Christmas tree filled with messages of thanks from the public.
The 18ft Go North West tree has appeared in the Queens Road bus depot, adorned with baubles, streamers, and heartfelt thank you notes.
It’s all been pulled together to celebrate and give thanks to the key workers who have kept the city-region moving throughout the pandemic.
The festive messages were written by Mancs out enjoying the Christmas Markets in the city centre, and have been turned into both Christmas decorations and this heart-warming video.
The notes include messages like: “Thanks so much for helping us all get around safely this Christmas, you’re all stars.”
Another group wrote: “Thanks for getting us to the pub and back. Cheers!”
Nigel Featham, managing director for Go North West, said: “Buses are at the heart of city life and that means our city’s bus drivers are too.
“We know how much our colleagues, and all bus workers across Manchester, are appreciated by customers, and this is one way to help share some festive joy straight from all the great people they meet day in day out.”
Go North West started operating two and half years ago, and says its festive video message this year is particularly poignant following the challenges brought about by Covid.
The transport operator will share the messages with all transport workers across its social media platforms.
