Manchester nightclub Hidden ‘deeply saddened’ as 20-year-old dies after becoming unwell
A 20-year-old has tragically died after ‘becoming unwell’ inside Manchester nightclub Hidden.
Emergency services were called to the venue, based inside DownTex Mill in Cheetham Hill, at around 2.30am on 8 June.
The man was rushed to hospital but tragically passed away a short time later.
Hidden, widely considered to be one of Manchester’s best nightclubs, has released a statement about the incident and Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation.
Hidden wrote: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss that occurred at our venue in the early hours of this morning.
“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
“Hidden has always been a place for people to come together, enjoy music and culture in a safe space and we are heartbroken by this incident.
“The safety and well-being of our customers and staff are always our top priority and in light of this tragedy, we have decided to cancel the event on Sunday as a mark of respect and to allow us to evaluate with our team.
“We will continue to assist the police with their inquiries.”
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 2.30am this morning (June 8), police were called to reports of an incident on Mary Street in Manchester.
“A 20-year-old man had become unwell and was transported to hospital. Tragically, despite the best efforts of emergency services, he later passed away.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of death.”
