It looks like it's going to be the year of the plant as it has today been announced that McDonald's is entering Veganuary with a bang.
The fast food chain is following in the foot steps of Greggs bakery, Costa Coffee and many other high street food operators by launching its first ever fully vegan meal.
This comes as Veganuary – the movement that encourages people to go vegan for the month of January – heats up.
A spokesperson for McDonald's said: "For flexitarians, vegetarians, vegans or those looking to make more meat-free choices during Veganuary, McDonald’s will be offering their first ever fully vegan meal from the 2 January.
"With over 1,300 McDonald’s restaurants in the UK, the NEW Veggie Dippers are a convenient, great value vegan option when out and about and are available as both an adult meal and Happy Meal.
"Veggie Dippers have been approved by The Vegetarian Society, who have also certified the ingredients and preparation as vegan compliant.
"McDonald’s kiosks and the app now show all the vegan and vegetarian options in one drop down list, making it easy for customers to choose an option suited to their dietary requirements.
"Veggie Dippers are available as both an adult meal and Happy Meal and are made with red pepper, rice, sundried tomato pesto and split peas surrounded by light and crispy breadcrumbs and are made without gluten. They are now a permanent menu item so will remain available even after Veganuary ends."
You'll be able to get your hands on the new vegan dippers meal today, however, on Monday 6 January, they will be available for just 99p via the My McDonald’s App.
Simply download the app and the offer will appear in the ‘Deals’ section.
