Police are urgently appealing for information following the death of a 72-year-old woman in Bolton yesterday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) says officers from its Bolton division were called to reports of a serious collision between a car and a pedestrian on Melbourne Grove, in the Horwich area, shortly after 2:15pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 August).

When police arrived on the scene, they found a pedestrian with serious injuries.

According to GMP, it’s believed the car was travelling eastbound along Melbourne Grove when it collided with the pedestrian on the nearby pavement.

Sadly though, despite all the best efforts of emergency services and everyone on the scene, a 72-year-old woman died as a result of her injuries sustained during the incident, GMP confirmed.
