Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is appealing for information following a “targeted attack” in Salford last night.

After police were called out to an incident in the Eccles area of Salford at around 10:50pm last night (Wednesday 6 April) close to the Esso / Tesco Express on Liverpool Road, GMP has confirmed that an attempted murder investigation has been launched.

A man was run over by a Blue VW Golf R during the incident, according to GMP, although his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Following this, police say the driver of the VW Golf fled from the scene on foot, leaving the car in the middle of the road.

A white VW Tiguan was involved in the incident.

“We are working hard to establish the circumstances of this incident and an investigation is underway,” explained Detective Inspector Gareth Humphreys, of GMP’s Salford division.
