This new online tool is making things a whole lot easier for shoppers across the country.
It's harder than ever to secure a shopping delivery slot at the moment, but a brand new resource has now launched to help make life easier for you during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This new website, Shopping Slot, works in a similar way to price comparison websites. All you have to do is simply enter your postcode and the tool will then generate all the available supermarket slots near to you.
Shopping Slot is the brainchild of co-founders Jason Moore and Sabrina Stocker.
Jason is a "software engineer by day and a problem solver by night" and you may recognise Sabrina from series 13 of The Apprentice back in 2018. They launched the website after, like many Brits, they encountered increasing difficulty in securing a delivery slot for themselves and their family.
Sabrina Stocker, co-founder of Shopping Slot, said:
My grandparents couldn’t leave the house and my family are isolating so we couldn’t deliver her food shop this week. Using Shopping Slot, I was able to book her a next day delivery slot from Iceland and was so grateful. I want Shopping Slot to become a national brand to help others in need."
Shopping Slot officially launched to the public on 7th April.
Since then, the website has already received 17,028 searches, 12,000 unique visitors and has successfully found and allocated over 68,790 delivery slots for users.
Co-founder, Jason Moore, added:
I was spending hours online trying to reserve spaces, so I designed a website which automated the process. Initially, this was for my family and friends, but I thought it would be nationally beneficial for those elderly, vulnerable and isolating."
At the moment, users can search as many times as they want on the Shopping Slot website, but speaking to The Metro, the founders have announced that the plan is to expand this, upon receiving investment, so that people are notified via WhatsApp message when a delivery slot becomes available in their area.
Investment will also enable them to build a software to recognise if someone is elderly or vulnerable, so they can be prioritised.
In the future, they are also eager to partner with and promote local businesses too, with Sabrina adding: "So many local businesses have changed their model because of the virus and now do home delivery, but people don’t know about it."
