Rest in peace.

Two of the victims killed in yesterday’s tragedy at a synagogue in Crumpsall have now been named by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

After initial reports of at least four people being left injured by the senseless attack, that number grew to five, with three still said to be in serious condition and two unfortunately succumbing to their injuries. Their deaths were confirmed on Thursday afternoon, 2 October.

With the attack at the place of worship in north Manchester also coming during Yom Kippur, the incident is now being treated as terrorism.

Updating the general public on Friday morning, GMP has now confirmed the names of the innocent civilians who sadly passed away as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz, both of whom were from the local area.

As detailed by the authorities, while full formal verification is yet to be handed down, it is believed the deaths are indeed Daulby and Cravitz, who are members of the local Jewish community.

“Their families have been informed, and Family Liaison Officers are in contact with them and offering support. Home Office post-mortems will take place later this morning”, the statement continues.

Detective Chief Superintendent Lewis Hughes, who is co-ordinating the casualty response, added: “My deepest sympathies are with Mr Daulby and Mr Cravitz’s loved ones at this extremely hard time.

“Specially trained Family Liaison Officers are in contact with them. They will continue to update them on the investigation and support them throughout the coronial process

“Whilst there are processes which must be followed, we commit to being mindful of cultural preferences and sensitivities and to ensuring that these men and their loved ones’ wishes are respected.”

Although a single picture of Cravitz has now been released across national and global media outlets, images of Daulby are yet to be revealed.

Police have also confirmed they know the identity of the man who carried out the attack at the synagogue, but details remain undisclosed for security issues.

The most current information regarding the other individuals injured following the Crumpsall tragedy is still unknown, but all are said to be in serious condition.

Once again, our thoughts and condolences to the families of the victims, all those affected, and members of the Jewish faith all across Greater Manchester, the UK and beyond.
