Ozzy Osbourne has hit out at Kanye West after the rapper used a sample of a Black Sabbath performance without permission.
The rock legend blasted Kanye as an ‘antisemite who has cause untold heartache to many’.
He clarified that Kanye had asked permission to use a sample of Iron Man from a 1983 live show, and was refused.
But the 46-year-old rapper used the sample anyway at an album listening party over the weekend.
Ozzy wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I want no association with this man!”
Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne also hit out at Kanye West, writing: “Welcome to the Carnival @kanyewest #permissionnotgranted #ironman”
Over the last several years, Kanye West has lost several high-profile brand deals – including with Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga – over his antisemitic remarks.
And now he’s upset one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most legendary figures, 75-year-old Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
Ozzy’s full statement on X said: “@kanyewest asked permission to sample a section of a 1983 live performance of “iron man” from the us festival without vocals & was refused permission because he is an antisemite and has caused untold heartache to many.
“He went ahead and used the sample anyway at his album listening party last night. I want no association with this man!”
A similar incident erupted earlier this year when Manc music legend Johnny Marr slammed Donald Trump for using a The Smiths song at a political rally.
Marr wrote at the time: “I never in a million years would’ve thought this could come to pass. Consider this sh*t shut right down right now.”
