Harry Styles paused his show in Manchester last night so that he could track down a very special guest in the audience – his first ever school teacher.

The star was performing a massive show at the Emirates Old Trafford to tens of thousands of (very giddy) fans.

Halfway through his set, he asked the sea of screaming, feather boa-clad faces to be ‘very quiet’ while he hunted out a VIP.

It didn’t take long for Mrs Vernon – Harry’s primary school teacher – to make herself known.

Shouting: “There she is! MRS VERNON!”, Harry dropped to his knees and bowed down to his former tutor.

Harry grew up in Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, where he attended Hermitage Primary School.

The Watermelon Sugar singer was visibly emotional to be performing back in the north west, calling it his ‘home show’ and saying that some of the happiest years of his life were spent here.

After a bit of polite chatter (“How are you?! I heard you’re retiring!”) he delivered a heartwarming speech to Mrs Vernon.

He said: “I’d just like to thank you for everything in those formative years, and erm, yeah thank you so much, it means a lot to me that you’re here tonight. Thank you.

“You were truly wonderful teachers and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for me. Thank you. I’m gonna dedicate this next song to you.”

He then joked to the audience: “Make some noise for Mrs Vernon everybody!

“Can you imagine dealing with me when I was four?! I was very fun.”

Harry Styles will play the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground for a second night today. You can see all the info you need here.
