Alison Hammond is officially taking over as co-host of the Great British Bake Off after Matt Lucas stepped down from the legendary tent.
The British TV icon will be joining comedian Noel Fielding this summer as another batch of amateur bakers attempt to whip up breads, cakes and biscuits, under the steely gaze of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
Alison confirmed the news on her own Instagram this morning, writing: “It’s OFFICIAL!!! It’s happening The Great British Bake off ! Let’s have it ! The cake that is.”
She shared a video of herself interviewing figurines of the new GBBO presenter line-up, joking that her fellow celebrities were ‘speechless’.
She added in the video that she was ‘absolutely thrilled’ and ‘so very excited’ to be joining the hugely popular Channel 4 reality show.

Alison is no stranger to the Bake Off tent – she had her own stab at it back in 2020 when she took part in the celebrity version for Stand Up To Cancer.
During that time, she lost her oven door, made a biscuit police station (sort of…) and generally cackled her way through the whole ordeal.

So the news of Alison’s return to the Great British Bake Off has delighted just about everyone, after the co-host spot was left open by Matt Lucas.
Prue Leith wrote: “Huge congratulations Alison, you will be magnificent and I can’t wait for your infectious laugh to be ringing through the tent.”
Former GBBO winner Rahul Mandal said: “How super exciting is that. Congrats. I so want to go back in the tent now, to experience your presence and chemistry with Noel and Paul and Prue.”

Channel 4 posted on Twitter: “This is more exciting than a cream horn for breakfast. Can’t wait to welcome you to the tent.”
Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer, Ian Katz, said: “Alison is much loved, effortlessly funny and the owner of the best laugh in Britain. She was a huge hit when she appeared on Celebrity Bake Off and we’re thrilled to have her back in the tent.”

The Traitors is reportedly set to air its ‘most explosive’ episode of all time this evening.
After last night’s episode (7 January) saw the ‘secret traitor’ revealed to the public, in what was a major twist for this series, fans of the massively popular BBC reality competition show will be able to tune tonight to see fireworks between contestants as tensions boil over, the Daily Star has revealed in a exclusive report.
Close sources to the show have apparently warned that the scenes set to air tonight are ‘shocking’ and ‘unlike anything seen before’ on the show.
The Daily Star’s insider has called the episode ‘very dramatic indeed’.
“It all kicks off,” the source added. “The game is in full flow and the pressure is getting to everyone. During filming, producers were quite shocked by it all.

“Many fans will remember the explosive breakfast in the show’s first series. Well, this episode makes that look like child’s play.”
Previously, the show hit record viewing figures at the start of this year, with an average of 6.4 million people tuning in to the first episode on New Year’s Day, but overall, it’s hard to deny that The Traitors has cemented itself as one of the biggest shows on air at the moment.
Producers are reportedly hoping, however, that tonight’s (8 January) episode will cement the show’s status as one of the best reality shows in TV history.
“It’s likely it’ll go down in history as one of the best hours of reality telly ever,” the Daily Star’s insider source concluded.
The Traitors airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

1. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
We’re going to start off with one that started over the Christmas period and a timeless tale by C.S. Lewis. That’s right, in case you hadn’t heard already, the most famous book in The Chronicles of Narnia has been remagined for the theatre and is as stunning as it sounds.

In a rather fitting take on one of the most iconic moments in music history, the stage adaptation of the real experiences behind Live Aid and the performances that made it such a legendary event is still helping people relive the time and raise money for charity.

From one legendary franchise to another, the one and only CATS will also be returning to Manchester city centre in the summer, landing at our very own Palace Theatre.

5. Dirty Dancing
Sticking with the 80s nostalgia, another firm favourite and major Hollywood movie was Dirty Dancing. From the timeless theme song, ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’, to the late Patrick Swayze’s smooth movies and lines like “Nobody puts ‘Baby’ in a corner”, you already know all the beats.
