A new study has suggested that one of the keys to living a longer life is to drink at least two cups of tea per day.
In what is news that’s bound make the day of tea drinkers nationwide, according to some newly-conduced research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, people who drink two or more cups of tea daily are likely to live longer than those who do not drink any – and apparently, it doesn’t matter how you like to brew your cup either.
Despite the temperature it’s drunk at, and regardless of whether you take it black, or with milk and sugar, the study found that the positive affects of tea appear unaffected.
Genetic variants that influence the rate people metabolise caffeine were also found to not affect tea’s beneficial properties.
So, how was the research conducted then? And can we take it as the truth?

Well, the study was carried out by researchers from the National Institutes of Health using data from the UK Biobank, alongside a questionnaire that was answered by participants between 2006 to 2010, and followed up on more than a decade.
Researchers found that 85% of the 500,000 or so men and women aged 40 to 69 report that they regularly drink tea, and of those, 89% said they drank black tea.
In a middle-aged and mostly white adult general population, the research suggested that regular consumption of black tea was associated with between a 9% and 13% reduction in mortality over 10 years.
This was especially true in terms of cardiovascular disease.

The findings from the study have been described as representing “a substantial advance in the field”, according to Fernando Rodríguez Artalejo, who is a professor of preventive medicine and public health at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
Professor Artalejo did however make sure to state that the study does not definitively establish that tea is the cause of the lower early mortality, as it can’t exclude that this is down to other health factors associated with tea consumption, and the question of whether people who don’t drink tea should start doing so to improve their health also remains unanswered at this point.
“Studies should be done with repeated measurements of tea consumption over time,” he explained.
“[They should] compare the mortality of those who do not consume tea on a sustained basis with that of those who have started to consume tea or have increased their consumption over time, and those who have been drinking tea for years.”

Aldi is giving away thousands of FREE pigs in blankets across the UK this Christmas
Emily Sergeant
Pigs in blankets lovers, this one’s for you.
While the turkey may be the main event on Christmas Day, nothing completes a hearty Christmas dinner quite like the bits on the side, and arguably the best of the best, when it comes to accompaniments, has to be pigs in blankets.
These little sausages wrapped in bacon may have been a staple of festive feasting for decades, but they seem to have shot up in popularity even more so than ever in recent years.
In the weeks leading up to the big day, it’s not uncommon to see pigs in blankets of all shapes and sizes adorning the shelves of every UK supermarket, as well as restaurant menus featuring them aplenty, and unconventional takes on the snack – such as pigs in blankets sushi, toasted sandwiches, and so much more – popping up in every direction.
But, in a bid to capitalise on their popularity in a completely new way, you may remember that Aldi launched the UK’s first-ever pigs in blankets restaurant down in London last year.
After becoming a smash-hit success, Aldi has announced that the viral restaurant will be reopening in Shoreditch again this Friday (29 November), and on top of that, the retailer has also announced that it’ll be launching a pigs in blankets delivery service for a limited time only too.
While Greater Manchester residents will sadly not be able to get the meaty treats delivered to their doorsteps, they will be able to apply to win dozens of free pigs in blankets instead.
Starting from this week (25 November), shoppers nationwide will be in with a chance of trying the supermarket’s best pigs in blankets range yet – including the ‘Specially Selected Truffle Chipolata Pigs in Blankets’, and the ‘Ultimate Footlong Vegan Pig in Blanket’ – for completely free of charge by entering the festive giveaway.
All you need to do is send an email over to [email protected] with your name, age, and address, and you could be one of the hundreds given a £5 voucher to get your hands on up to 30 pigs in blankets at your local Aldi store.
Find out more about the giveaway on the Aldi website here.

Docuseries covering Molly-Mae’s highly-publicised breakup with Tommy Fury to air in new year

A new TV docuseries airing in the new year is set to give an inside look into the life of social media star Molly-Mae Hague.
You may remember that back in mid-August of this year, headlines across the UK were grabbed by the news that former Love Island couple, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, had called time on their relationship – leaving fans in shock, and naturally wondering what the future would hold for the influencer and professional boxer.
Given that the couple were one of the few lasting Love Island success stories, they got engaged in July 2023, and that they shared a young daughter together – Bambi, born in January 2023 – the breakup came as a surprise and seemed very unexpected for many.
But now, a new documentary TV series will soon be taking viewers on a journey “beyond the headlines” in a bid to “uncover the real Molly-Mae”.

The new exclusive-access docuseries following the social media star will be coming to streaming platform, Prime Video, in two instalments in the new year, and fans will get to see Molly-Mae adapt to the challenges of motherhood, all while preparing to launch her biggest business venture to date – her clothing brand ‘Maebe’.
Most notably, though, the documentary will follow Molly-Mae’s journey in the limelight following her highly-publicised breakup with Tommy Fury.
“This is Molly-Mae as you’ve never seen her before,” a synopsis on the Amazon Video website reads. “In this intimate look, we uncover how these experiences have shaped her into the powerhouse entrepreneur she is today.”
The series is described as being “raw and real”, and will “redefine what it means to be successful under intense public scrutiny.”
The first three episodes of the new docuseries – the name for which is yet to be released – will launch on 17 January 2025, while the remaining three episodes will drop in the spring.
