A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after threatening a young mother and baby at knifepoint.
Officers were called to reports that a vehicle had been stolen from Mytham Road in Little Lever at around 5pm yesterday.
The victim was a 24-year-old woman who was holding her 10-week-old newborn baby at the time, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Police were first called to the report of a knife-point robbery, but were later called out to a road traffic collision in relation to the stolen vehicle.

The second scene, at around 7.30pm on Great Western Street, led to the arrest of a 17-year-old boy, who remains in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
GMP detectives are now looking for more information to help with their enquiries, such as dashcam footage and eye witnesses.

Any sightings of the vehicle – a dark grey Seat Cupra with the registration XL02 DEC – across the two-hour period between the robbery and the teen’s arrest should be reported to police.
Detective Sergeant Carla Deighton from the Bolton district said, “We’re treating this incident very seriously and after a quick response from our officers we were able to track down and detain a suspect in relation to what happened.
“I also want to reassure our local community that we have increased high-visibility patrols in the area as a result.
“We understand this incident will cause some serious concern, but we are continuing to work hard to ensure we can bring justice to the victim who was going about their daily business.
“We are now appealing to the public to help with any vital information they have that will help in our investigation and in particular anyone who may have caught the vehicle on their dashcam between 5-7:30pm.”

Police investigation underway following ‘shocking’ arson at Marple Cenotaph on Bonfire Night

A public appeal for information has been issued after a fire was started near a war memorial in Stockport on Bonfire Night.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is currently investigating after officers were called out around 9:50pm on Bonfire Night (Wednesday 5 November) following reports of a group of males near to the Cenotaph in Marple.
When police arrived at the scene, they found that a fire had been started in a bin and wooden pallets had been set alight – with the ground nearby having been damaged.
Neighbourhood officers in Marple are now investigating and are appealing for information in relation to this incident.
The incident has been described as a reckless act that could have ended with more damage and even serious injury.
“The Cenotaph means a lot to the community and incidents like this are deeply upsetting, particularly at a time when we should be honouring the memory of our war veterans,” explained Sergeant Rachel Walton, of GMP’s Stockport East Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“We are working closely with partners at Stockport Council and the fire service to ensure the area is cleaned and restored.
“We want to identify the individuals responsible, and we will have extra high-visibility patrols in the park each evening leading up to the Remembrance Day service on Sunday (9 November).”
This incident is just one of a total of 350 calls related to fire or fireworks that GMP responded to on Bonfire Night, which is said to be an increase from 203 last year.
A total of 27 arrests were made across Greater Manchester, with four weapons and hundreds of fireworks seized.

Police appeal after Rochdale woman, 75, was burgled by man in clown outfit on Halloween

An appeal for information has been made following reports of a burglary in Rochdale last week on Halloween.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) explained that at around 7:10pm on Halloween (Friday 31 October), a woman on Birch Road in Rochdale answered the door to a man – who is believed to have been dressed in a clown outfit – and he proceeded to ask for a drink before following the woman into her address and stealing several items, then running away.
He took a red purse with the woman’s mother’s wedding ring inside of it – which is said to be of ‘extremely’ sentimental value.
Police say the man may have discarded the ring once he left the victim’s address, but he did use one of her stolen cards at a shop later that evening.

Thankfully, the woman – aged 75 – was left unhurt, but she has been left shocked and upset by the incident.
“This was a shocking incident, which has left a woman feeling unsafe in her own home,” commented Detective Sergeant Ruth Thompson, from GMP’s Rochdale district.
“She has spent many years helping the homeless and working for local charities, so it is particularly grim that someone would exploit her goodwill.”
