Thousands of teenagers across the UK will be waking up and heading into school to collect their GCSE results today.
Results day is by far one of the most important (and stressful) days of any student’s education, with all the hard work they’ve put in over the last two years finally coming to an end, opening the door to the future and setting them on the path towards the rest of their lives.
But how would us ‘grown-ups’ fare if we were faced with our GCSEs again today?
Whether you knew them as O-Levels, CSEs, the current GCSEs, or something else entirely, most of us would probably run for the hills if we were presented with the opportunity to flash-back to being 16 and have a go at sitting our final exams again, but in the current day… and nothing proves this to be true more than the findings from this recent study.
Ahead of the big day, online distance learning provider, Open Study College, surveyed the nation to find out just how many adults think they could realistically pass their GCSEs if they were to take them today.

Surprisingly, as little as 21% of the respondents believed they would be successful, which leaves a whopping 79% of adults thinking they’d miss the mark.
Even more surprisingly, only a quarter (24%) think they’d pass the SATs taken in primary school.

On the other side of the spectrum, a further 20% of those surveyed believed they would, in fact, get better results if they were to sit their exams today than they did back when they were actually 15 or 16, while 80% believed they would receive similar or worse results.
When it comes to the subjects UK adults said they would struggle with the most, maths and algebra came out on top at 80%, followed by chemistry at 66%, English language at 43%, and the basic concept of essay writing at 46%.
66% admitted they don’t use any of the skills taught in school in their day-to-day adult life.

Samantha Rutter Bryant, who is the founder and CEO of Open Study College, said there is “so much pressure” placed on young people ahead of results day, adding: “While it is, of course, a very important time, it’s somewhat comforting to know that successful adults might even struggle with the school-aged exams.”
Good luck to anyone getting their results today… we couldn’t do what you’ve done (clearly).

Manchester City is looking for some diehard fans to be part of a new documentary series by sharing their love for the club.
The Sky Blues are no stranger to a documentary, having had several successful series and feature-length shows air on Amazon Prime, Netflix, and the club’s own online TV platform CITY+, over the past couple of years – drawing in millions of viewers across the globe each time.
But now, it sounds like there’s another one in the works… and you could be a part of it.
The football club is looking for families with four generations of supporters to share their special memories of following Manchester City down the years.
📣 We’re looking for diehard fans to share their special City memories for an exciting new documentary series!
On top of this, the club is also keen to find fan videos that can help take documentary viewers into the stands from a City fan’s perspective, and is asking that people get in touch and send footage that they’ve taken of some of the club’s most famous moments from over the years – including reactions to Sergio Aguero’s famous goal against QPR in 2012, and the Treble-winning season.
Footage could also be submitted from other important milestones such as the 1999 play off final, or from things like random away days in the 1980s, or even City-themed kids’ birthday parties from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
No matter whether the footage was taken on a mobile phone, old-school video camera, or something similar, it could come in useful.
The only condition is that all footage submitted by fans must be their own, and not recordings from commercial media, or copied from YouTube or any other media/social media outlets.
Keen to be a part of the production then?
If you would like you and your family to be considered for the documentary, then you can email [email protected] with your details and stories about supporting City.

Mancs who are good at lying are wanted for the next series of The Traitors
Emily Sergeant
The BBC is currently casting for the next series of The Traitors, and is looking for some deceptive Mancs to take part.
The Traitors is pretty much a cultural phenomenon at this point.
While the first series of the smash-hit BBC reality competition show proved pretty popular when it premiered back in 2022, the second series which aired at the start of this year took things to a whole new level, and truly seemed to capture the attentions of the nation like no other – with millions of viewers tuning in to watch the three episodes each week.
In case you haven’t seen it, put simply, The Traitors a competition series that’s built on strategy, suspicion, and deception.
A team of players are tasked with competing in a series of missions, with the more missions they complete successfully, the bigger the prize pot gets. However, hidden among the players are the ‘Traitors’, who meet in secret and decide who to eliminate from their fellow players known as the ‘Faithfuls’.
The aim for the ‘Traitors’ is to stay undetected until the end, while the aim for the ‘Faithfuls’ is to banish all of the Traitors before the game ends.
Throughout the series, there will be twists, turns, rigorous challenges, shocks and surprises for the players.

Producers describe it as a “game of trust and treachery”, and there’s always plenty of twists, turns, shocks, and surprises along the way – but do you reckon you’ve got what it takes to play? If so, the BBC is currently casting for the next series of the popular show, and is calling on people in Greater Manchester and across the UK to apply.
Applications are currently open to “fun, smart, and strategic players” who are over 18 years of age and have the right to legally reside in the UK.
