Manchester Christmas Markets 2022

The Manchester Christmas Markets are back and they’re going to be better than ever.

Each year the Manchester Christmas Markets attract around 9 million visitors each year with people travelling from all over to visit the UK’s best Christmas Markets. The 2022 markets kicked off on Thursday 10 November and will run until 22 December.

The Winter Gardens (formerly known as…

Piccadilly Gardens). Manchester City Centre’s busiest green spot will be getting a festive transformation into the Winter Gardens – the heart of the Christmas markets. You’ll be able to warm up with a hot sangria, tuck into Manc poutine or bubble & squeak, and fill up on warm cookie dough and Belgian brownies.

Once you’re all filled up you can wander over to the market stalls and browse over Cheshire Cheese Company’s cheeses, chutney, jams & spreads or The Great British Cheese Company’s waxed truckle cheese. You can find the perfect Christmas gift at Silver Flowers where they have silver jewellery made with flowers set in resin. For the perfect evening pick-me-up you can head to the sweet stand and get your own pick ‘n’ mix sugar rush.

The brand-new central hub will include a live music stage for the first time in the markets’ history, hosting DJs and bands throughout the festive season. There’ll also be marquee seating, festoon lighting, and a huge selection of food and drink. Don’t tire yourself out too much though, there’s so much more of the Manchester Christmas Markets to see.

Cathedral Gardens

This is the place to be for family fun and Skate Manchester’s ice rink.

Once you’ve skated up an appetite you can browse all of the food and drink they have on offer. This includes Yorkshire pudding wraps – which is exactly what it sounds like: roast dinner in a yorkie wrap. They’re infamous on the Manchester Christmas Market circuit and you definitely have to try one for yourself. Wash it down with a side of warm mulled wine and you’ve had the perfect meal.

The Maker’s Market

This part of the Manchester Christmas Markets is all the festive but not the crowds. Just by Great Northern Warehouse you’ll be able to browse a different kind of stall. It’s the perfect place to find an eco-friendly and sustainable gift for a loved one or friend. Pop down to this alternative artisan market which is on each weekend to browse independent local traders, products, ingredients and materials.

Whilst you’re there you’ll see a range of acts – choirs, DJ’s and artists performing live to entertain the Christmas crowd. The Maker’s Market is a great way to support local business and the planet at Christmas time.

Explore the Manchester through the Christmas Markets

The Manchester Christmas Markets are taking over 6 different parts of the city and there will be markets in other pockets of the centre throughout the festive season. Take the opportunity to explore the City Centre through the Christmas Markets where you can fill up on delicious grub and get all of your Christmas gifts sorted from local vendors.

We’re really excited for Manchester’s Christmas Market return in 2021 and even better it’s been organised with Covid safety in mind. That means it’s been scaled back in some areas, designed with crowd control entries and exits and a one way system designed for easy flow and social distancing. This means you can enjoy getting boozy, filling up on tasty grub and supporting local business all with some festive twinkly lights.
