A local Manchester brewery is giving away free lager and pizza this week to celebrate the launch of its newest beer.
Created in collaboration with local clothing brand Hikerdelic, the new limited edition beer is called GORP, or Good Old Raisins & Peanuts, and is the latest release from the city’s only craft lager brewery.
The newest drop from Manchester Union Lager, if you time it right you can grab a can (and a slice of Nell’s pizza) for free at Common on Edge Street this Wednesday.
All you need to do to get your hands on a freebie is to sign up for a free ticket with Skiddle here, then make sure you’re one of the first fifty people in the queue at 6pm.
There’ll also be a host of merch available, created by Hikerdelic – a relatively young clothing company born out of the ‘sartorial seeds of Proper Magazine’.

Hikerdelic has already had great success in limited edition collaborations with the likes of Barbour, Novesta, Holubar and Yogi, after transitioning from writing about clothes to making their own.

Now, they’re teaming up a bit closer to home, combining a love for the outdoors lifestyle with high-quality, well-designed clothing made to last.

Their motto is where the peak meets the precinct, unifying the two worlds of rambling and raving, and let’s be honest there’s not much that does that better than a beer.
Promising to be the ‘perfect refreshment after a post-trail hike’, in spite of the name the Pilsner-style beer is actually completely free of peanuts.
The can label has been illustrated by Daren Newman, a celebrated locally-based illustrator who also created all of the typography for Hikerdelic’s branding.

Speaking on the new beer launch, Manchester Union’s Jamie Scahill said: ‘We floated the idea of a beer with Hikerdelic a few years ago when they hosted a party at the brewery so we’re delighted for the world to try it.
“This is the perfect partnership with one of my favourite clothing brands and Manchester’s only craft lager brewery.”
Mark Smith from Hikerdelic added: “After the last couple of years, the importance of real life things has definitely grown.
“With social media we can interact with our followers but a real product enjoyed in real life can’t really be beaten.
“Working with Jamie and Will has been great and we’re looking forward to getting something a little different to our clothing out there.”

A shop where you can buy mystery lost parcels is coming to Manchester
Daisy Jackson
A viral lost parcels ‘treasure hunt’ is heading to Manchester next week, giving you the chance to potentially snap up a right bargain.
King Colis is a concept that’s been triggering huge queues across Europe, selling on mystery undelivered parcels.
When it lands in Manchester, you’ll be able to dig through 10 tonnes worth of parcels, which have failed to reach their end destination whether it’s through incorrect address or a failed delivery attempt.
Every year, thousands of these parcels end up in landfill but now, thanks to King Colis, you have the chance to intercept them.
These parcels are now being given a second life, helping to reduce waste while creating a completely new kind of retail experience.
The catch is, you don’t know what’s inside the parcel you buy – imagine Christmas morning as a kid where you’re shaking your present praying for a Barbie, but this time you’re praying that the anonymous parcel has a designer item or gadget inside.
Each visitor is given 10 minutes to rummage around for their parcels, which are sold by weight at £2.50 per 100g.

And it’s only once you’ve made your purchase that you can actually open your box or bag to see what’s inside.
Past shoppers have uncovered everything from designer fashion and high-tech gadgets to rare collectibles, with some items worth thousands. In previous pop-ups, finds have included a Pokémon card valued at over £2,000, and even gold.
King Colis will be at the Manchester Arndale for one week only, selling on lost mystery parcels.
The concept has already visited cities including Paris, Rome, Berlin, Dublin, and Newcastle, has drawn significant crowds.
Speaking on the Manchester launch, King Colis co-founder Killian Denis said: “We’re really excited to be bringing King Colis to Manchester. Every city has had an incredible response so far, and it’s always amazing to see the queues build from day one.
You never know what you’re going to find. That’s what makes it so exciting. I’d definitely recommend getting there early as stock is limited.”
King Colis will be at Manchester Arndale’s Exchange Court (next to Next and River Island) between Monday 4 and Sunday 10 May, with free entry. Fast passes will be available for £15 each HERE.
Popular Manchester brunch spot Bruncho teases what’s to come with new Northern Quarter cafe
Daisy Jackson
Bruncho has shared a glimpse of what’s to come when it officially opens the doors to its new Northern Quarter cafe.
The brunch spot has had queues down the street since launching on Deansgate, with enough popularity to warrant it opening a second location.
Bruncho is moving into the old Feel Good Club, a huge unit in Hilton House that’s been left empty since the cafe’s shock closure.
And as the clock ticks down to Bruncho’s launch into the Northern Quarter, they’ve shared an exclusive look inside at their very big plans.
The team have now confirmed that the new venue will have a salad bar and vegetarian buffet, as well as coffee raves with DJs at select hours.
New CGIs of the space also show a drastic change from the site’s days as Feel Good Club, filling the giant cafe with wooden tables, hanging pendant lights, plants, and soft textures.
Bruncho is known for its brunch dishes that have a real knack for going viral on social media, including New York-style breakfast rolls in croissant bread; fresh coconut water and matcha served in the coconut; and its absolutely stacked French toasts.

It’s consistently packed out at its original location on Deansgate, and now it’s taking over a 4,378 sq ft unit in the Northern Quarter too, set to open this June.
Omer Umut Mutlu, owner of Bruncho, said: “Manchester has shown Bruncho so much love, and expanding into the Northern Quarter feels like the natural next step for us.
“Hilton House gives us the space to elevate what we do – more covers, more events, and a new home for the kind of food and atmosphere people will make the journey for.
“We’re excited to bring something fresh to the neighbourhood, with the opening scheduled for June 2026.”
