Man charged over alleged plot to kidnap and murder Holly Willoughby
He will appear in court today.
A man has been charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder Holly Willoughby.
It’s been reported that the beloved TV presenter has been under police protection at her home.
36-year-old Gavin Plumb was arrested on Wednesday ‘as part of an ongoing investigation’, Essex Police has said.
He’s been charged with soliciting to commit murder over a reported plot to kidnap the 42-year-old star.
He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today, Friday 6 October.
Holly did not appear on This Morning as planned on Thursday, with co-host Alison Hammond stepping in to present in light of alleged kidnap plot.
In a statement, Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby said: “This was an extremely fast paced investigation, with many of our officers and national partners working overnight to secure these charges.
“The safeguarding of any victim is paramount and we will continue to prioritise this and working with the Metropolitan Police Service as the investigation proceeds.”
Holly Willoughby herself has yet to address the kidnap plot.
Her ITV colleague Lorraine Kelly said: “Of course we are sending Holly all of our love and best wishes, that is a terrible thing to be having to go through for her and her family.”
