If you love Greggs and are also vegan, then the popular baked goods company has some huge news for you - its planning to release plant-based versions of all its most popular products.
Greggs is currently working on vegan versions of all its best sellers, from steak bakes to pasties, all thanks to the huge success of the vegan sausage roll that sent Piers Morgan into a meltdown earlier this year.
The high street baker launched the Quorn-filled version of its sausage roll back in January, and were forced to increase production because of how popular it was.
Greggs’ chief executive, Roger Whiteside, told LBC:
We are working away to see if we can come up with a version of all our bestselling lines because people want vegan options. If we can produce something that tastes just as good as the meat version, then that will sell very successfully. That’s what’s been shown with the vegan sausage roll.
Whiteside has previously spoken about the change in brand perception Greggs underwent after releasing the vegan sausage roll, saying it helped rebrand them as a ‘modern food-on-the-go brand’.
