Marcus Rashford levels Manchester United legend Andy Cole’s goalscoring record

One thing's for sure, he'll go above a few more names on the list before it's all said and done.

Manchester United got back to winning ways on Wednesday night with their 1-0 victory over Brentford and Marcus Rashford also managed to go level with club legend Andy Cole on goals.

Rashford has now made it 14 goals in the Premier League and 26 for this season all-told, not to mention nine assists, having already surpassed his best-ever tally several games ago and plenty of the 22/23 campaign left to play.

It didn’t take long for the choruses of Andy Cole’s old chant to ring around Old Trafford after his instinctive finish into the roof of the net and fans were made aware of the landmark, with the 25-year-old making it 121 goals for his boyhood club — the same number as one of United’s most prolific strikers.

He now sits in joint 19th in this list of the Red Devils’ all-time goalscorers.

Andy Cole did do it 74 games fewer, with Rashford reaching the milestone in 349 matches across all competitions, but he’s also managed to do it in a much less free-firing squad — I mean, he did have Dwight Yorke alongside him, not to mention the Class of ’92 and numerous other club legends.

Rashford’s also had several injury problems (admittedly, like any other player), the torrid time following the Euros and played in a period where the club have been far from the best for a decade now.

The Wythenshawe-born winger will undoubtedly score a lot more goals for United, especially given the form he’s in right now, but the question is exactly how high up will he finish on the list of the club’s greatest-ever goalscorers?
