Heaton Park is gearing up ready to host a huge new open-air cinema and street food festival this summer.

Created by Adventure Cinema – the UK’s largest touring outdoor cinema company – the Film & Food Fest will be popping up with a line-up of classic and new films, stand-up comedy and street food in a number of major outdoor locations across the country.

The exact line-up for each event will be tailored to the specific location in order to best support both local creatives and local food operators.

The Greater Manchester leg of the tour will take place in Heaton Park for four days.

Kicking off on 23rd September, the Film & Food Fest will bring an opening night focused on screening short films by local filmmakers, followed by the Saturday and Sunday afternoons reserved for family-friendly experiences and screenings of classic hits like The Lion King, The Goonies, The Greatest Showman and more, and each evening set to provide a mix of live-stand up comedy by local comics.

There’ll also be showings of blockbuster films, including Grease, Joker, The Invisible Man and Dirty Dancing.

And to help support local film organisations in each of the 15 cities on the tour, a total of £2 from the sales of each Thursday night ticket will go towards this cause.

The gates to the festival will open three hours before each film starts to allow ticket-holders to explore the street food market – with traders curated by Street Food Warehouse – and enjoy the on-site bar serving everything from beers to bespoke cocktails.

Even though the Greater Manchester leg of the tour is set to take place following the government’s goal of lifting all social restrictions by 21st June, at the earliest, the Film & Food Fest will adhere to all necessary COVID-safe guidelines.
