Girls Aloud will be performing in Manchester for the first time in more than a decade this week.
The iconic pop group are about to take on a three-night residency at the huge AO Arena, a tour that will honour founding bandmate and Mancunian Sarah Harding who sadly passed away in 2021.
Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine, Nicola and Sarah won over the nation on Popstars: The Rivals, and have legions of loyal fans excited to see hits like Sound of the Underground, Love Machine, and The Promise live.
Girls Aloud will be marking their 20 year anniversary with the tour, which kicked off in Dublin and is almost ready to head across to Manchester.

Band fronted by Liam Gallagher’s son announces headline gig at iconic Manchester venue

A band fronted by Liam Gallagher’s son have announced a headline gig at one of Manchester’s most iconic music venues.
In the same week that his old man has been playing a run of sold-out – and absolutely biblical, if we do say so ourselves – shows at Manchester‘s newest live entertainment arena, Co-op Live, Gene Gallagher and his band, Villanelle, have just announced their debut UK headline tour, and tickets are going on sale in a couple of days time.
The upcoming indie rock quartet is formed earlier this year by Liam Gallagher‘s youngest son, who takes on the role of lead vocalist and guitarist.
Gene’s joined by Ben Taylor on guitar, bassist Jack Schiavo, and Andrew Richmond on drums.
The four-piece is yet to actually release any music formally, but Gene says he’s been writing songs for as long “as he can remember”, and they’re already making waves.
The lads are currently introducing themselves in the biggest way possible by opening for LG himself on his ongoing ‘Definitely Maybe: 30 Years’ tour… but as that run of shows nears an end, Villanelle are now preparing to step out on their own for the first time ever.
They’ll be taking to the stage at some legendary smaller venues all across the UK on their debut headline tour.
They’ve already played a handful of gigs at places such as renowned London rock ‘n’ roll pub, The Marquis, and beloved Manchester venue, Band On The Wall, but this is the first time they’ll be heading out on tour.
And of course they’ll be coming back to visit our city.
Manchester music fans curious to hear what the rising band’s sound is all about will be able to head on down to Night & Day Cafe later this year on 22 November and see for themselves.
Villanelle – UK Tour Dates 2024
19 November – Stereo (Glasgow)
20 November – The Grove (Newcastle)
22 November – Night & Day Cafe (Manchester)
23 November – Oslo (London)
24 November – Mama Roux’s (Birmingham)
26 November – Dareshack (Bristol)
27 November – The Bodega (Nottingham)
28 November – Oslo (London)
Tickets to the UK tour dates – including Manchester – are going on sale later this week.
Anyone looking to grab tickets to the Manchester gig at Night & Day Cafe on 22 November will be able to get their hands on them when they go on general sale this Friday (21 June) at 9am.
The Killers at Co-op Live Manchester – still going strong after 20 years

When it comes to live performers, Brandon Flowers is on his way to legend status – and The Killers last night proved why they’ve deserved to reign supreme for nearly two decades.
The band, who are celebrating 20 years since the release of their iconic debut album Hot Fuss, have just played the first of four nights at the Co-op Live arena.
From the moment the first notes of Read My Mind echo through the venue, it’s clear that this night will be special. The crowd erupts with energy that will last throughout the 21-song setlist.
With tracks like Somebody Told Me and Spaceman following swiftly, the atmosphere inside the enormous new arena is electric, each song greeted with roars of approval and the audience singing every lyric back to the band.
The nostalgia is high with hits like Jenny Was a Friend of Mine and Smile Like You Mean It transporting us back to the early 2000s and reminding us why we fell in love with The Killers in the first place.
They seamlessly mix these indie rock classics with newer hits like Running Towards a Place and Caution.
One of the night’s highlights is undoubtedly All These Things That I’ve Done. The collective euphoria reaches its peak during the anthemic chorus, with the crowd chanting “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier” in unison.
It’s moments like these that make live music so magical – the shared experience, the connection between band and audience.
Brandon Flowers, ever the charismatic frontman, is in his element. His interaction with the crowd, his commanding stage presence, and his flawless vocals make for an unforgettable performance.
As the main set wraps up with When You Were Young, the crowd’s applause reaches deafening levels, demanding more. The Killers oblige with a five-song encore that includes a surprising, yet brilliant cover of Erasure’s A Little Respect.
But it’s Mr Brightside, the final song of the night, that truly brings the house down. The entire venue is a chorus, singing along to what has become an anthem for a generation.
The Killers’ ability to blend new material with beloved classics, all while maintaining an electric stage presence, is what sets them apart.
For those fortunate enough to have tickets for the next shows, you’re in for an absolute treat.
