A large blaze has broken out at Jerk Junction, a popular Caribbean restaurant in Chorlton.
The much-loved restaurant is famed for its jerk chicken and curried meat dishes and has two sites around Greater Manchester.
It’s due to open its third location at MediaCity in just a few weeks’ time.
But today the original site in Chorlton, with its beautiful wood-clad exterior, has been hit with a fire.
The front of the building and several storeys above the restaurant now appear blackened.
Fire crews and other emergency services have been spotted on the scene.
Jerk Junction have since posted on their Instagram stories, with a crying emoji: “Closed until further notice, we will be soon.”
They added on Facebook: “Devastated, closed until further notice due unforeseen circumstances. Hopefully be back sooner rather than later. Stay posted.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: “Shortly after 10.30am on Wednesday 23 August firefighters were called out to a building fire on Manchester Road, Chorlton.
“Three fire engines from Moss Side, Stretford and Salford and an aerial ladder platform from Manchester Central quickly attended the scene where a fire had started in a restaurant and spread to above flats.
“Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, three hose reels, one short extension ladder, a hearth kit and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours.”
