Promising Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo ruled out for ‘the first part of the season’
Many fans had been crying out to see him integrated into the first team.
One of the Manchester United players that fans were most excited about seeing come into the first team this year was Amad Diallo, but it now appears they’ll have to wait a little while longer as an injury setback is expected to rule him out for the start of the season.
Diallo, still just 21, was already an exciting prospect when Man United first signed him back in January 2021 and seriously impressed on loan at Sunderland last year, so naturally Reds were keen to see how he might begin to fit into the first-team plans for 2023/24 campaign and provide more attacking options.
However, as confirmed by the club on Thursday, Amad suffered a knee injury during United’s pre-season win against Arsenal on July 23 and after undergoing scans is now set to “miss the first part of the Premier League season.”
It’s still unclear as to when he will return to the squad.

Writing in the announcement, the club recognised it’s a real “blow to the youngster’s hopes of making his mark, after being involved in the earlier stages of our pre-season campaign.” They will also be without another exciting young talent in Kobbie Mainoo, who could be out for around two months.
The injury setback will no doubt disappoint fans who were not only looking forward to seeing him get more first-team minutes in the league but also potentially push the likes of Antony and Jadon Sancho, as all three were essentially vying for a starting spot along the front three.
United have two more pre-season games back-to-back, one against RC Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday, 5 August and then one final match against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin before the 2023/24 Premier League begins.
Erik ten Hag and his team face off against Wolves at home in their season opener on 14 August with three new signings now under their belt: midfielder Mason Mount, new goalkeeper André Onana and their soon-to-be-announced striker, Rasmus Højlund.
