Aldi is looking for a special someone to become its official crisp taster, and will send the lucky winner a bunch of bags to try for free.
Calling all spud enthusiasts and self-confessed crisp connoisseurs, this one’s for you.
Merely days after putting out a nationwide call for a handful of new ‘Gin Testers’, whose jobs it’ll be to try out the budget supermarket retailer’s range of summer-inspired gins and review them, Aldi is ready to make savoury snack food lovers’ dreams come true, as it’s now also revealed it’s also on the look-out for an official ‘Crisp Taster’ to join the team too.
In what is a brand-new role for the company, the one lucky person chosen for the role will get sent a selection of Aldi’s most popular crisps to sample at home, and all without having to part with a single penny for them.
Aldi’s Specially Selected Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked, the Snackrite Perfections Thai Sweet Chilli, and Saucy Nibbley Nobblies are just a handful of the potato snacks they’ll be sent.

Not only that, but the new ‘Crisp Taster’ will also get an exclusive first try of products that are yet to hit Aldi’s shelves.

Then, once the lucky recruit has taste-tested each of the crisps sent out to them, all they’ll have to do in return is review each product and rating the crisps on their taste, crunch, texture, and appearance to help guide the supermarket’s Buying Team on potential future flavours.

“What our shoppers think is so important to us,” explained Julie Ashfield, who is the Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, as the role of a lifetime opened its applications this week.
“It’s crucial we listen to their honest feedback, so we can ensure our products continue to deliver on taste, while also offering unbeatable value. Sales of snacks such as crisps and nuts skyrocketed by 40% during the World Cup in 2022, so we expect our crisps to be in high demand this summer with Euros 2024.
“What better timing to find out what our most passionate snack fans have to say?”

Fancy it then? To apply, you’ll just need to be aged 16 or over, a legal UK resident, and create a short application video, that’s no more than a minute long, explaining why you should be Aldi’s first ever ‘Crisp Taster’.
Applications are now open, with a closing deadline of 16 June.
You’ll need to share your application video via the email address [email protected], and you can find out more information on the official ‘Crisp Taster’ webpage here.

Co-op is offering shoppers £10 discounts as a ‘thank you’ following its cyber attack
Emily Sergeant
Co-op is offering shoppers £10 discounts to say ‘thank you’ for their cooperation during the recent cyber attack disruption.
Last month, the supermarket retailer’s stock was massively affected due to what was described as ‘malicious attempts by hackers to access [its] systems’, leaving shelves of stores across the UK bare, and payments by shoppers disrupted.
The company called it a ‘highly complex situation’, and also confirmed that hackers stole personal data – including members’ names and contact details.
The Co-op was just one business to be hit by cyber attacks this year, with other major ones affecting several other retailers like Marks & Spencer and Harrods.

Now that Co-op’s 2,300 food stores nationwide have successfully returned to usual trading, the retailer wants to show gratitude to its 6.5 million members who supported the business while the attack was taking place.
To say ‘thank you’, Co-op is offering its members a 25% discount on a £40 shop, meaning they can get £10 off their purchases.
“I’m very proud that, thanks to the work of our colleagues, we are very near to making a full and complete recovery from the recent cyberattack on our Co-op,” commented Co-op’s Managing Director of Food, Matt Hood, “and I’m delighted to see our stores looking back to normal and being able to serve our shoppers and communities.
“We are so grateful to our member owners for their support and patience with us during what was a very difficult time.
“I hope this gesture of appreciation goes a little way to showing them our thanks, with more value rewards to come over the summer.”
The 25% offer runs from today (Wednesday 18 June) right through to 24 June at all Co-op stores across the UK, and it can only be used by members one time.
TikTok star turned pop star Addison Rae announces gig in Manchester
Thomas Melia
Viral TikTok star and now recording artist, Addison Rae, has announced her first-everheadline European tour, where she’ll be paying Manchester a visit, and tickets go on sale this week.
After launching into the music scene back in 2021 with pure pop single, ‘Obsessed’, Addison made her pop star intentions very clear.
Since then, Addison has gone on to work with high-profile artists such as Charli XCX, who appears as a feature on track ‘2 Die 4’ taken from her first EP, ‘AR’.
Addison also contributed to the inescapable phenomenon of last year that was ‘Brat Summer’, appearing on the aforementioned A-list artist’s Brat remix album, on a reworking of the hit ‘Von Dutch’.
With more than 88.5 million followers on TikTok alone and north of 35 million on Instagram, it goes without saying that her legions of ‘Sunraes’ (yes, a real term used by some in the community) will be lining up to get tickets to her UK tour dates.
Now the singer is ready to take the world by storm, confirming a US and European tour following the release of her debut album, simply titled Addison.
This LP, which features standouts like smash single ‘Diet Pepsi’, ‘Aquamarine’ and ‘Fame Is A Gun’, has been met with rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
The fledgling 24-year-old American-born pop star is a big fan of the UK, so much so that one of the singles from this very debut album, ‘Headphones On’, includes a music video dedicated to frozen food retailer Iceland.
See for yourself…
Addison Rae is set to bring ‘The Addison Tour’ – her first on the continent and here in Britain and Ireland – to Manchester Academy on 30 August, with general admission going on sale this Friday, 20 June.
