A mum has taken to social media to share a nifty hack with other parents to help protect their little ones this summer.

We’ve been absolutely spoiled with glorious weather in Greater Manchester this week, with the sun shining high in the sky and the temperatures soaring. Forecasts show it’s set to stick around a little longer, too, with a heatwave due to bring 16 consecutive days of 20°C sunshine to our region this month.

Although the sunshine is something us Brits love to celebrate every summer, it’s important for everyone – especially children – to stay as safe as possible in the heat.

As many parents will tell you, though, applying suncream to little ones’ faces is no easy task.

For those who find themselves up against uncooperative kids when it comes to applying the summertime essential, one mum has a genius hack.

Taking to social media earlier this week to reveal the trick on the ever-popular Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas page on Facebook – which has amassed over 1.1 million active members – the Essex-based mum posted a picture of a bottle of suncream next to a makeup brush that’s usually used to apply foundation.

“Ever struggle to get suncream on your little ones faces?” she asked. “Use a foundation brush [as] it acts like face paint.

“No more tears.”

The post appeared to be a lifesaver for many over this past week, as it went on to amass 6K reactions and well over 800 comments from parents passing the tip onto others, with the mum saying: “I’m so glad my little hack has proved so popular with so many people.”

“This is just something that worked for me without having to pay for anything,” she added.

One commenter admitted that the hack “might save some tantrums the next sunny day”, and a another labelled it “a great idea”.

A third simply called it “genius”.

Can’t help but agree.
